When music is played at a business or other public place and it is audible to patrons and/or members of the public, then you are required by the Copyright Act Cap. 18.08 to obtain copyright clearance for this public performance. It is an offence under s. 46(3) to publicly play or perform music knowing or having reason to believe that the music is copyright protected.
