Traffic Convictions

January 30. The following persons appeared before the Basseterre Magistrate Court, presided over by Her Honor Ms. Sherry-Ann Liburd-Charles, and were convicted and fined for traffic violations as follows:

 1. Elvesia Glasgow of St. Paul’s
 Offences:
 • Driving without a valid and unexpired licence – fined $750 in two months or 14 days imprisonment

 • Driving without insurance – fined $750 in four months or 14 days imprisonment

 • Driving without due care and attention – convicted and cautioned

 2. Chadena Nisbett of Stapleton Village
 Offence: Driving without due care and attention – fined $1,000 in two months or 14 days imprisonment

 3. Yoel Gonzalez Romero of Newtown
 Offences:
 • Driving while using a mobile phone – convicted and cautioned

 • Failing to produce driver’s licence immediately – convicted and cautioned

 • Driving without due care and attention – fined $1,000 in six months or 14 days imprisonment

 • Additional offence of driving without due care and attention – fined $1,500 in six months or 14 days imprisonment

 4. Suresh Sunder of Pond Site
 Offences:
 • Driving without due care and attention – fined $2,000 in one month or 30 days imprisonment

 • Using indecent language – fined $1,500 in two months or 14 days imprisonment

 5. Delroy Stevens of Saddlers
 Offence: Driving without due care and attention – fined $750 in one month or 14 days imprisonment

 6. Carlton Daniel of Bird Rock
 Offence: Driving without due care and attention – convicted and cautioned

36 ticket cases were withdrawn following proof of payment of the fines. 

Five (5) matters were adjourned to various dates.
