Traffic Court Convictions

Basseterre, St. Kitts— Several defendants appeared before the Basseterre Magistrate Court, presided over by Her Honor Sherry-Ann Liburd Charles on Thursday, March 27, 2025. The following convictions and sentences were handed down:

Cyril Ible-Frederick of St. Peters was convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention on October 10, 2023.

Leroy Wattley of Lower Shaw Avenue, McKnight, was convicted and fined $750.00, payable within three (3) months. In default of payment, he will serve 14 days imprisonment. The offence was committed on May 29, 2024.

Akieme Fenton of Cayon faced multiple charges:

The charge of driving without a valid and unexpired license (committed on July 19, 2024) was withdrawn.

Convicted and fined $750.00, payable within three (3) months, or 14 days imprisonment for driving without insurance.

Convicted and fined $400.00, payable within one (1) month, or 7 days imprisonment for driving without the relevant license.

Convicted and cautioned for driving without appropriate headgear.

Sherri Goh of Boyd’s Village was convicted and fined $750.00, payable within two (2) months. In default, she will serve 7 days imprisonment. The offence of driving without due care and attention was committed on April 23, 2024.

Sylvester Edwards of Old Road was convicted and fined $1,500.00, payable within one (1) month. Failure to pay will result in 14 days imprisonment. The offence of driving without due care and attention was committed on January 25, 2024.

Additionally, five (5) ticket matters and two (2) accident-related cases were withdrawn following payment in the Vehicle Registration System (VRS). A total of eighteen (18) matters were adjourned until June 12, 2025.

The court also issued a bench warrant for Shelise Williams of Verchild’s.

The Traffic Department remains committed to enforcing road safety laws and ensuring that all motorists adhere to the established regulations. Road users are reminded to exercise caution and comply with traffic laws to maintain safety on the nation’s roads.
