On Thursday, 17th April 2025, officers of the Traffic Department, led by Inspector Gordon, attended the Basseterre Magistrate Court, where Her Honour Sherry-Ann Liburd Charles heard and disposed of several traffic matters.

Two significant convictions were recorded for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention:

1️⃣ Delicia Anthony of Cayon was found guilty after trial and fined $1,000.00 to be paid within one (1) month or serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment. This offence occurred on January 29, 2024.

2️⃣ Joseph Seeraj of Lodge Village was also found guilty after trial and fined $2,000.00, to be paid within one (1) month or serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment. This matter stemmed from a traffic accident on May 4, 2024.

In addition, seventeen (17) ticket matters were withdrawn following proof of payment, thirteen (13) matters were adjourned to June 26, 2025, and one (1) bench warrant was issued for Mr. Girish Hiranandani.

As we approach the holy holiday weekend, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force urges all motorists to exercise due care and attention on our nation’s roads. These convictions are a serious reminder that careless driving endangers lives and carries legal consequences. Let us honour the spirit of the season by driving responsibly, respecting others, and ensuring everyone reaches their destination safely.

Stay safe. Drive smart. Arrive alive.
