Contraband Confiscated In Joint Prison Operation

10 Jul, 2025Admin
2005

A coordinated early morning operation conducted on July 9th, 2025, at His Majesty’s Prison on St. Kitts has led to the seizure of a significant quantity of contraband. The operation was conducted between 4:30 AM and 12:30 PM, by a joint team from multiple national security agencies. These included members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s (RSCNPF) Special Services Unit (SSU), Anti-Narcotics Unit, and Joint Security Operation Tactical Team (JSOTT); personnel from the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Infantry; St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Officers; and officers of the St. Kitts and Nevis Prison Service. The operation was conducted under the oversight of Commissioner of Corrections (Ag.) Mr. Spencer Isaac, and other senior law enforcement officials.

The search of the entire prison facility and compound resulted in the discovery and confiscation of fifteen (15) cellular phones, a quantity of marijuana, improvised weapons (shanks), cigarettes and tobacco, lighters, containers of fermented liquors, and various other prohibited items. These findings form part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the integrity and security of the correctional system, and to prevent or intercept any coordination of criminal activity from within the facility. All contraband items were taken into Police custody to aid with the ongoing investigations.

The RSCNPF continues to pursue all persons, whether inside correctional walls or outside them, who seek to compromise institutional integrity and public safety. Together with our partner agencies, the Force continues to work diligently to restore discipline, curb illicit activity, and ensure that the nation’s correctional institutions are not used as safe havens for criminal coordination.

We wish to thank all agencies involved for their professionalism, vigilance, and continued collaboration.
