Shajuan Walters of Lodge Village, St. Kitts, has been convicted and sentenced for the offence of the Unlawful Conveyance of Prohibited Items into His Majesty’s Prison, committed on October 24th, 2024.

Mr Walters pleaded guilty to the conveying of one (1) flash drive, one (1) digital SIM card, and attempting to convey some portions of the cannabis plant. For conveying the flash drive and SIM card, he was convicted and fined EC $500 (five hundred dollars) to be paid within fourteen (14) days; in default of which, he will serve one (1) month in prison.

Mr Walters also pleaded guilty to attempting to convey portions of the cannabis plant into His Majesty’s Prison. He was subsequently convicted and fined EC $500 (five hundred dollars) to be paid within fourteen (14) days, or in default, one (1) month in prison. The court further ruled that if both fines are paid in full within the stipulated time, no conviction will be recorded against him. His sentence was handed down on on July 15th, 2025, at the Basseterre Magistrate Court by His Honour Reynold Benjamin.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force reiterates its “zero tolerance” stance on all efforts to introduce contraband into the Federation’s correctional facilities. These acts pose significant threats to the safety and order of the prison system and, by extension, the broader society. As such, all those who attempt to undermine institutional security will be held fully accountable.
