Court Convictions – Traffic Offences

Basseterre, St. Kitts – At several sites of the Basseterre Magistrate Court before Her Honor Yasmine Clarke and His Honor Reynold Benjamin between 14th and 17th July 2025, several persons were tried and convicted for various traffic violations.  Below is a summary of convictions, and fines.

 

14th July 2025 – Her Honor Yasmine Clarke Presiding

1. Lennis McDowell – pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Convicted and fined $800.00 in 3 months or 1 month imprisonment.

2. Malik Sutton – pleaded guilty to three offences:

Driving with one lighted headlamp – convicted and cautioned.

Driving without valid licence – fined $800.00 in 2 months or 2 months imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – fined $800.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

3. Tee Whitaker – pleaded guilty to three offences:

Driving without relevant licence – fined $800.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Exceeding speed limit – fined $250.00 in 1 month or 14 days imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – fined $800.00 in 3 months or 1 month imprisonment.

4. Omar Chin – pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Fined $1,500.00 in 2 months or 3 months imprisonment.

5. Orville Crossley – pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Fined $1,000.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

 

15th July 2025 – Her Honor Yasmine Clarke Presiding

1. William Degrasse – represented by Lawyer Stephen Hector. Pleaded not guilty to driving without due care and attention, but was convicted and fined $1,500.00 in 2 months or 3 months imprisonment.

2. Ethan Hodge – pleaded guilty to four offences:

Driving without due care and attention – fined $800.00 in 3 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Driving without valid licence – fined $800.00 in 6 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – fined $500.00 in 6 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Fraudulent use of identification mark – convicted and cautioned.

 

3. Craig Richardson – pleaded guilty to three offences:

Driving without valid licence – fined $500.00 in 3 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – fined $500.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Failing to comply with No Entry sign – fined $250.00 in 2 months or 14 days imprisonment.

4. Brandon Phillip – pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Fined $900.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

5. Alejandro Ricardo Alvarez – represented by Lawyer Bussue. Pleaded not guilty to driving without due care and attention; charge withdrawn. However:

Driving without valid licence – convicted and fined $800.00 in 2 months or 1 month imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – convicted and cautioned.

 

17th July 2025 – His Honor Renold Benjamin Presiding

1. Arthurlin Lee – pleaded guilty to three offences:

Driving without due care and attention – fined $1,000.00 forthwith or 30 days imprisonment.

Driving without valid licence – fined $500.00 forthwith or 21 days imprisonment.

Driving without insurance – fined $1,000.00 forthwith or 30 days imprisonment.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force reminds all motorists that traffic laws are in place for the protection of all road users. The Traffic Department will continue to pursue strict enforcement against violators. The public is encouraged to drive responsibly and ensure their vehicles are fully licensed and insured.
