Traffic Court Convictions – Over $15,000 In Fines - $2,000 Fine For Dark Tinted Windows.

Several motorists appeared before the Basseterre Magistrate's Court in sittings this week. Convictions, fines, and alternative prison terms were as follows:

 

AUGUST 11 – Her Honour Yasmin Clarke

• Lonsito Phillips, of John West Farm Estate – Exceeding the Speed Limit (3 Oct 2024) – fined $300 to be paid in 1 month, or 1 month imprisonment.

• Carmen Bishop, of Buckleys Housing – Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Driving Without a Driver’s Licence, Driving Without Insurance (22 Mar 2025) – fined $500 on each count, payable in 3 months, or 1 month imprisonment on each.

• Onil Santana Pagero, of Sebastian St., Newtown – Driving Without a Driver’s Licence and Driving Without Insurance (1 Jun 2025) – fined $800 on each count, payable in 3 months, or 1 month imprisonment on each.

• Juanita Shomari Powell, of Newtown – Failing to Wear Seatbelt While Driving, Driving with an Expired Driver’s Licence, Driving Without Insurance (13 Jun 2025) – fined $500 on each count, payable in 3 months, or 1 month imprisonment on each.

 

AUGUST 12 – Her Honour Yasmin Clarke

• Shavancil Sharry, of Ottley’s Gate – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (29 Oct 2024) – fined $1,000 in 3 months, or 1 month imprisonment.

• Glenford Williams, of Grove Village, St. Paul’s – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (19 Feb 2025) – fined $800 in 3 months, or 1 month imprisonment.

• Nathaniel Thompson, of Hermitage Village, Cayon – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (28 Oct 2024) – fined $1,000 in 3 months, or 2 months imprisonment.

• All Dain Bristol, of Camps Village – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (18 Jun 2024) – Cautioned.

• Aslyn Broadbelt Warner, of Bird Rock – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (2 Jul 2024) – Cautioned.

 

AUGUST 14 – His Honour Reynold Benjamin

• Emris Forbes, of Upper Shaw Avenue – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (4 Aug 2022) – fined $750 in 2 months, or 21 days imprisonment.

• Dimitri Orchard, of Dewars Estate – Driving Without Insurance (11 Oct 2024) – fined $1,000 forthwith, or 2 months imprisonment; Driving Without a Valid and Unexpired Licence – fined $500 forthwith, or 21 days imprisonment.

• Shane Williams, of Sand Down Rd., Newtown – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (2 Oct 2024) – fined $750 in 1 month, or 21 days imprisonment.

• Tyrique Benjamin, of #105 Pine Gardens, Shadwell – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (1 Oct 2023) – fined $500 in 1 month, or 14 days imprisonment.

• Carolyn Wharton, of #49 Ottley’s Project – Driving Without Due Care and Attention (5 Sep 2024) – fined $1,000 in 2 months, or 30 days imprisonment.

• Kamarli Kelly, of Christ Church – Driving Without Insurance (29 Nov 2024) – Cautioned.

• Rohit Sheopersaud, of Parson Ground – Permitting Another to Drive Without Insurance (29 Nov 2024) – Cautioned.

• Cleton Mike, of Saddlers – Exceeding the Speed Limit – fined $1,500 in 1 month, or 30 days imprisonment; Driving with Tinted Rear Windows – fined $2,000 in 2 months, or 4 months imprisonment.

Forty ticket cases were withdrawn after proof of payment in the Vehicle Registration System (VRS). Others were adjourned to later dates for trial or proof of service.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force urges all motorists to obey traffic laws, remain properly licensed and insured, and pay traffic tickets within 10 days to avoid court action.
