The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has declared open the Island Constables Training Course 2023. The course was launched in a brief ceremony held at the Police Training Complex in Basseterre, St. Kitts, on August 28th, 2023. The ceremony was attended by members of the RSCNPF’s High Command; the Director of Public Health Institutions, Dr. Jenson Morton; and a representative from the Urban Development Corporation in the person of Pearline Tross.

During his brief remarks, Dr. Morton expressed his gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Health as this year’s batch of trainees is inclusive of nine (9) orderlies from the Joseph N. France General Hospital. He welcomed the continued strengthening of the long-standing and collaborative relationship between the Ministry and the Police Force.

Commissioner of Police, James Sutton, reminded the trainees of their duty to protect and serve the citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis. He encouraged them to focus and diligently apply themselves in the course’s upcoming sessions.

This year’s course will provide training in several areas key to providing the highest levels of civilian protection and service. The trainees will benefit from a plethora of teachings that include but are not limited to customer service; the principles and accessories to crime; the various forms of larceny; self defence; and aspects of the Drug Act and Small Charges Act. The training culminates on September 15th, 2023, with a graduation ceremony to be held at the Police Training Complex.
