Advancing Community Relations: Specialized Training Enhances Police Communication With The Hearing Impaired Community In St. Kitts And Nevis.

BASSERERRE, St. Kitts, August 26, 2024. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is pleased to announce the completion of a specialized three-day training program focused on improving communication with the hearing impaired community. This training, hosted by the Department of Disability Services for frontline workers and first responders within the civil services, was facilitated by Ms. Wendy Collins Williams. 

Members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force who attended included Sgt. Charmaine Audain, Constable Stefan Modeste, and Constable Asheshia Paul.

The training provided valuable resources and documents, which serve as vital tools for the frontline workers and first responders to enhance their ability to communicate effectively with individuals who are hearing impaired. The program emphasized the importance of understanding and responding to the unique needs of the hearing impaired community, equipping officers with practical skills to foster better interactions and build trust.
