Traffic Convictions

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, January 24, 2025. At sittings of the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court on January 23 and 24, presided over by Magistrates, His Honor Mr. Reynold Benjamin and Her Honor Mrs. Sherry-Ann Liburd-Charles, respectively, the following persons appeared and were convicted of several traffic offenses and fined as follows:

Convictions from January 23, 2025

 

1. Adeejuah Jones of Prospect Nevis

Convicted and fined $1,000 in one month or 30 days imprisonment for driving without a valid and unexpired license (offense committed on September 3, 2024).

2. Astan Richards of Cayon

Convicted and fined $1,500 in one month or 30 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.

Convicted and fined $1,000 in one month or 14 days imprisonment for driving without insurance (offense committed on May 10, 2024).

Disqualified from holding a driver’s license for six months (January 23, 2025–July 22, 2025) due to a third conviction for careless driving.

3. Seamus O’Flaherty of Nevis

Fined $1,500 in two months or 30 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.

Fined $1,500 in one month or 30 days imprisonment for speeding (offense committed on July 16, 2024).

4. Steadroy Morton of West Farm

Convicted and fined $1,000 in one month or 14 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention (offense committed on May 6, 2024).

5. Devon Percival of Cayon

Convicted and fined $1,500 in two months or 30 days imprisonment for driving without reasonable consideration for other road users (offense committed on November 11, 2022).

6. James Walwyn of Cayon

Convicted and fined $2,000 in one month or 30 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention (offense committed on April 26, 2024).

7. Reginald Flemming of Bird Rock

Convicted and fined $1,000 in two months or one-month imprisonment for driving without insurance (offense committed on March 8, 2024).

8. Kareem Jeffers of Ponds Pasture

Convicted and fined $1,000 in six months or 30 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.

Convicted and fined $1,000 in three months or 30 days imprisonment for driving without insurance.

Convicted and fined $400 in one month or seven days imprisonment for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

Convicted and fined $500 in four months or seven days imprisonment for driving without a valid and unexpired license.

Convicted and cautioned for driving an unregistered vehicle (offenses committed on June 7, 2024).

 

9. Antonell Charles of St. Paul’s

Convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention (offense committed on January 17, 2024).

10. Akeem George of Douglas Est.

Convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention (offense committed on May 10, 2024).

 

Convictions from January 24, 2025

1. Francis Babalola of Cayon

Convicted and fined $1,000 forthwith or two months imprisonment for driving without insurance.

Convicted and fined $500 forthwith or one-month imprisonment for driving without a valid and unexpired license (offense committed on October 4, 2024).

2. Joseph Nicholas Smith of Old Road

Convicted and fined $350 forthwith or 14 days imprisonment for driving without a valid and unexpired license.

Convicted and fined $1,000 forthwith or two months imprisonment for driving without insurance.

Convicted and cautioned for driving without a seatbelt (offense committed on January 20, 2025).

3. Vaughn Osborne of Conaree

Convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention (offense committed on March 20, 2023).

Additionally, 13 cases were withdrawn following payment of tickets, while 29 cases were adjourned to later dates.
