Community Policing Improvements Imminent

Citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis are set to experience a new side of policing in the coming weeks. These changes are the result of the guidance and teachings of Dr Edwin Powell, Forensic Psychologist and National Security expert.

Dr Powell recently journeyed to the Federation to provide crucial leadership and community policing training to law enforcement officers. The first course, Executive Leadership: Empowering Performance-ready Leaders, was taught to a mixed group of senior officers selected from across five of the Federation’s six national security agencies. Officers gained invaluable insight into organisational leadership techniques and styles; developing and enhancing emotional intelligence; and escaping the paralysis analysis through evidence-based decision-making. The second training course honed in on the psychology community policing for officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. Dr Powell schooled a group of officers ranking from Constable to Sergeant in various methods and approaches that would maximise the positive effects of police presence in communities.
