On Monday April 21, 2025, the Traffic Department of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force executed several operational activities across key areas of the island.
A series of Vehicular Checkpoints (VCPs) were conducted by officers of the department at Johnson Long Path and Southwell Way Road in Frigate Bay. These efforts resulted in the issuance of one hundred and seven (107) traffic tickets for various offences, as follows:
1. Exceeding the speed limit – 40 tickets
2. Driving with a dark tinted windscreen – 9 tickets
3. Driving with a child without a seatbelt – 19 tickets
4. Driving with dark tinted windows – 6 tickets
5. Failing to produce a driver’s licence immediately – 3 tickets
6. Identification mark not conforming to regulations – 4 tickets
7. Passenger not wearing a seatbelt – 2 tickets
8. Driving with a defective tyre showing thread – 1 ticket
9. Driving with a child without a child seat – 11 tickets
10. Overcrowding a vehicle – 2 tickets
11. Driving without wearing a seatbelt – 2 tickets
12. Driving without a valid and unexpired driver’s licence – 3 ticket
13. Driving an unlicensed vehicle – 3 tickets
14. Driving without appropriate headgear – 2 tickets
During the operations two individuals were arrested, Mr. Shaquille Worrell of Cayon for driving motor vehicle PB 1809 without a valid driver’s license and insurance, and Mr. Terayon Richards of West Farm, the driver of PA 9981, for similar offences. Both men were charged and later released on bail.
Additionally, the Traffic Department conducted a series of proactive searches of vehicles and individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activity. Seven vehicles and their occupants were searched. While no illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition were found, items such as pen knives and a face mask were recovered.
