Policy On Driver’s Licence Renewals 

The general public is informed of the following policy on the renewal of drivers licenses in the Federation: 

1. License Validity and Expiry

    a. Drivers’ licenses shall be valid for      a period of    three (3) years from the date of issue.

     b. Licenses shall expire on the license holder’s birth date in the third year of validity.

2. Renewal of Expired Licenses

     a. If a driver’s license is renewed after its expiration date, the validity period of the new license shall commence from the expiration date of the previous license, regardless of the actual date of renewal. 

    b. Exceptions to this rule shall be granted only to individuals who provide satisfactory evidence that they were unable to renew the license due to:

     i.    Incapacitation due to medical or other personal circumstances.

     ii.   Being out of the Federation for the period during which the license expired.

3. Evidence Required for Exceptions

     a. Drivers seeking an exception must provide verifiable documentation to support their claim, such as:

     i.   A medical certificate or other relevant documents for incapacitation.

     ii.   Proof of travel (e.g., passport stamps, boarding passes, or airline itineraries) to substantiate absence from the Federation.
