Vehicle Inspection Standards



Non-Mechanical Testing Requirements


1. Tint on the front windscreen must not exceed 10 inches from the top.


2. Tint on windows and the rear windscreen must allow at least 35% light 
transmittance. (Notwithstanding the light transmittance, the interior of the 
vehicle must be reasonably visible from the exterior.)


3. No tint is permitted on rental vehicles.


4. Number plates must be in good condition, correctly displayed, (front and rear 
center of bumper) and meet the prescribed size and font requirements.
Plates letters and digits must be:
• A height of at least 3.5 inches.
• A thickness of at least 5/8 of an inch.
• A space of no less than 0.5 inch between letters and digits.


5. Tires must have a minimum tread depth of 2mm.


6. Front windscreen wipers and the horn must be functional.


7. All lights, including headlights, brake lights, indicators, and number plate 
lights, must be functional, securely mounted, and correctly positioned.
• Headlamps must have the correct aim and beam intensity.
• Headlamps must be uncolored.


8. No blue lighting is permitted anywhere on the vehicle.

9. Windscreens must be installed and must not have significant damage or 
obstruction in the driver’s field of vision.
• Windscreen wipers and washers must work effectively.
• The driver’s view must not be obscured by items such as stickers or 
overly tinted glass.


Note: Vehicles must meet these standards to pass inspection.
