Damien Liburd Sentenced For Drug Importation

Damien Liburd of Upper Cayon, St. Kitts, has been sentenced for multiple offences related to the importation and possession of controlled substances.

 

Mr Liburd was previously charged jointly by the Comptroller of the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) for the following offences:

  1. Importation of a Controlled Drug;
  2. Importation of Restricted Goods not in Accordance with Restrictions and Conditions;
  3. Submitting a False Customs Declaration;
  4. Intent to Deceive a Customs Officer.

 

Mr Liburd was found guilty of all charges, and was sentenced accordingly:

  1. for Importing a Controlled Drug, he was convicted and fined five-thousand dollars ($5000 ECD), payable within four (4) months, with a default penalty of one (1) year imprisonment;
  2. for Submitting a False Declaration to a Customs officer, he was fined two-thousand dollars ($2000 ECD), payable within six (6) months, with a default penalty of six (6) months in prison;
  3. for the Importation of Restricted Goods not in Accordance with Restrictions and Conditions, Mr Liburd was cautioned;
  4. for the Intent to Deceive a Customs Officer, he was fined two-thousand dollars ($2,000 ECD), payable within six (6) months, with a default penalty of six (6) months in prison;

 

Mr Liburd was sentenced on January 27th, 2025, by Magistrate Her Honour Mrs. Rhonda Nisbett-Browne at the District “A” Magistrate Court in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
