Policy Guidelines For Driving Instructors

1.         Professional Conduct and Responsibilities of Driving Instructors

1.1.      Dress Code: All instructors must adhere to a professional dress code during road tests.

1.2.      Instructors are responsible for informing their students about the proper dress code, emphasizing its importance during examinations.

1.3.      Instructors must strictly inform students that using cell phones during the exam is prohibited to ensure a focused and distraction-free exam environment.

1.4.      Instructor Vehicle Appearance: Instructors are required to maintain a clean and tidy appearance of their vehicles used for the examination. Vehicles must reflect        professionalism and adherence to safety standards.

2.         Allocation and Transfer of Student Slots

2.1.      Student Allotment per Instructor:   Each instructor is allocated a maximum of five student slots per exam. This allotment ensures a balanced and manageable examination     schedule.

2.2.      Transfer of Allotted Slots: Should an instructor needs to use another instructor’s student allotment, they must first obtain consent from the instructor whose slot they wish to utilize.

2.3.      Instructors are only permitted to use another instructor’s allotment on the day that instructor is authorized to operate. Consent for this transfer must be approved by the Traffic Dept.

3.         Compliance with Vehicle Regulations

3.1.      Vehicle Standards: All vehicles used for road tests must comply with the established vehicle standards. This includes:

3.2.      Displaying appropriate and visible number plates.

3.3.      Ensuring there are no excessively dark window tints or tinted windshields, which could impair visibility or compromise legal compliance.

3.4.      Displaying proper signage indicating the vehicle is used for driving instruction or examination purposes.

3.5.      Offenses and Accountability: Any infractions regarding vehicle compliance, such as unapproved modifications or lack of required signage, will be considered a violation of driving instruction standards and may lead to restrictions on examination eligibility.

4.         Time Management and Punctuality

4.1.      Punctuality Expectations: Both instructors and students are expected to arrive punctually for examinations. In cases where delays are anticipated, instructors must notify the Traffic Department promptly. Repeated lateness without notification may lead to a review of instructor privileges.

5.         Professional Boundaries and Privacy

5.1.      Student-Instructor Communication with Examining Officers: Instructors must establish clear communication boundaries with their students regarding the involvement of Examining Officers. Students are prohibited from directly contacting Examining Officers outside of designated office hours or without proper reason.

5.2       Privacy Respect: Instructors should inform students that Examining Officers are not to be contacted for informal updates or personal requests, ensuring Examining Officers’ privacy is respected.

This policy aims to enhance the professionalism, safety, and efficiency of driving instruction and examination processes.
