National Intervention Team Empowers Youth Through Identity And Leadership Conference

19 Jan, 2026 08:01 PMAdmin

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force's (RSCNPF) National Intervention Team successfully hosted its Youth Empowerment and Identity Conference 2025 under the theme “Your Identity Is Unique – Know It, Own It.” Held on December 15th to 16th, 2025, the two-day initiative positively impacted over 50 young people, including members of the Security Forces United Youth Football Teams, National Intervention Team Youth Drummers, and youths from surrounding communities.

The conference centred on identity formation, leadership development, mental wellness, discipline, and positive decision-making, reinforcing the message that nation-building does not begin in adulthood. It begins now, with today’s youth. Participants were challenged to recognise their individual value, take responsibility for their choices, and understand their role in shaping the Federation's future.

This initiative also supports the broader path toward sustainable national development by equipping young people with the tools, mindset, and confidence needed to become responsible, resilient, and productive citizens.

The National Intervention Team extends sincere appreciation to the lecturers and facilitators who contributed their time, expertise, and lived experience, including:

- Ms Eartha Carey, Force Personnel Officer, RSCNPF;

- Desean Newman, Youth Parliament Representative;

- Mr Hance Richards, Citizen Security;

- Ms Nigenda Walters, Representative of the Drug Counsel;

- Mr Terrence James, Dept. of Probation and Child Protection Services;

- Dr Al Pierre;

- Sgt. Audain, RSCNPF's National Intervention Team;

- Mr Alrick Edwards, Superintendent of Police, RSCNPF;

- Mr Percival Douglas and Ms Velma Douglas, Dept. of Probation and Child Protection Services;

- Mr Hodge, St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union;

- Mr Jeffrey Hazel, Ministry of Sports;

- Mr Pablo Blackwood, Deputy Lieutenant, Great London Programme, who joined via Zoom.

Special thanks are also extended to parents and guardians for their continued partnership, encouragement, and trust. Their support remains essential in guiding our youth toward positive pathways and purposeful lives.
